Abstract

The triple helix model was founded between the last decade of 1900 and the first decade of 2000, taking as its main axis the necessary interaction between the academia (university), government and Industry to generate social development over time. The objective is to describe the triple helix model and its advances or reversals in recent years, particularly in Latin America. The Redalyc and Scielo indexes were reviewed, based on the selection of 12 articles from the last 5 years. The result was that the model has been used in Latin America initially in a vague way, making progress over time, but without achieving the interactive ideal between social helices. In conclusion, the academia (university) must modify its curriculum to innovate, undertake and extend; the industry must have more social responsibility and conduct research, hand in hand with the academia; and, the government, fulfill its functions of promoting, supervising and maintaining alliances.
