This study analyzes hybrid strategic foresight as a theoretical scaffolding for the managerial praxis of SMEs. The research was based on the local context of Ecuador, with a documentary methodology that uses descriptive and analytical methods. By categorizing strategic prospects based on planning and strategy, the Benchmarking and Delphi methods are compared. Finally, it is proposed that each of the methods has different characterizations that address the study of the organization in different ways. When confronting them, some less explicit conceptual categories of one method with respect to the other were identified. For this reason, we outline the methodical interweaving, in other words, the application of a hybrid method for SMEs based on the Benchmarking and Delphi methods, whose complementarity allows a systemic and consensual approach to the fundamental characterizations within the strategic foresight.
