Abstract

The well-being of families living in oil-producing areas may be affected by the working conditions provided to workers who provide their services in oil companies. This research aims to analyze the working conditions of workers in the oil sector of Sucumbíos and their impact on the well-being of life of their families; in the period 2020-2022. The methodology used is of a non-experimental exploratory propositive nature, with a mixed approach, in addition, statistical analysis was used; whose data collection was carried out through surveys and interviews applied to 140 people randomly. The results show that today the working conditions to which workers and collaterally their families are exposed directly affect their physical, emotional and mental health, as well as their economic situation, with wages that do not cover food expenses. In addition, there is a reactive climate and culture, strenuous schedules and working hours and social and labor precariousness as a means of slavery; these are the factors that give rise to social problems. It is concluded that companies are looking for greater profitability of investment and the means to achieve this is outsourcing, which allows them to flexibilize schedules, salaries and work functions and this with the approval of the executive; while the legislative becomes blind and deaf and the judiciary is always in favor of economic power, the outlook becomes discouraging and uncertain for the worker. Therefore, the working conditions of workers in the oil sector strongly influence the well-being of families living in Sucumbíos, Ecuador.
